Mister Rogers...and Cardigans

I decided to go pick up one $10 stick of coverup last night since Target is right across the street. One hour later, I had spent about $120 and had managed to get three cardigans, a pair of leggings, another shirt, a new pair of shades, and a couple of additions to my makeup collection (much needed). Whoops.

I am excited about my three cardigans and am actually wearing one right now. I have and always will be a sucker for cardigans. I actually used to refer to myself as Misses Rogers at times, and yes this was a compliment from me to well...me. I needed some major replacement action on some of my cardies though so it was a good move.

Ironically while putting on my cardigan this morning I had Fox News on and they played a clip from Mister Rogers Neighborhood. I am fortunate to have a mom that made me watch all the education hooplah when I was little, and Mister Rogers was definitely one of her faves. I mean I know/sing 3 or 4 of his songs occasionally thanks to her beautiful renditions of them.

So for Monday I just want you to know that it is a beautiful day in neighborhood here in Nash, it's you I like, and you are my friend...you are special.

I couldn't find the live video of this one, but it's definitely one of my faves.

How can you not feel good after those? Enjoy multiple times if you feel the need.

Video Time...Take 2

Because I didn't feel like typing a bunch.

I'll be signing autographs after the show. Ha!

Over the Hill

Did you see this on Google...

I guess I just used google.com for the first time today since I normally use the embedded search on my toolbar. Anyways, who didn't love The Very Hungry Caterpillar when they were little (and now)? Apparently today is its 40th anniversary. Thanks, Eric Carle!

Don't you love how Google does this?! Me, too.

if the patch or gum doesn't work...

If you're looking to quit the smokie smokes, I may have found the best way to go about doing it. Smoking Smarties. One of my fave treats as a kid. Just make sure not to blow out through your nose because apparently it attracts maggots, and I'm not kidding about that. Woof.

I guess I can officially make fun of a younger generation.

Ben Kweller's Grandmother...Bubbie

I knew Ben Kweller was awesome, but his grandmother Bubbie...also awesome.

I bought a guitar today for $27. Well Motorola payed for $100...thanks Moto!

Seriously Google?...Nothing? Nada?

I just googled something for work and got absolutely no results. Out of the entire compilation of random information that is the world wide web...nothing. I'm having some trouble grasping this.

And for those of you who were wondering (you know you all were) what other holidays chose the same date as a big holiday. Here's what I found for St. Patty's Day.

Birthday of Bangabnadhu...Bangladesh
Camp Fire Boys & Girls Founders Day...USA
Evacuation Day (Boston only)...USA

The end.
Ciao.

ST. PATRICK'S DAY...is today.

St. Patty's Day with class. Your welcome, D.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY! This is one of my oh so favorite holidays, and I am glad to say that I will probably get back to Nash in time to celebrate tonight. I am in Johnson City right now (apparently my home away from). I'm actually sitting in the lobby of my hotel listening to everyone get verklempt over the economy/AIG giving out all of those bonuses. Not sure if verklempt fits there, but I try to use it as often as possible so I think it rarely fits. Oh well.

Okay so don't forget to wear your green today. You don't want to get pinched although I guess as adults we are suppose to phase that part out of the day. If I was nearby I would cook you a green breakfast (remember that for future St. Patty's Days). I can reassure you that enormous amounts of food coloring are totally fine for you. St. Patty's Day has proven this to me year after year.

Ummm...here's a brief history of the day.

This is a fun slideshow with one of my fave singers, Eva Cassidy, singing Danny Boy in the background. I take that back...not so fun. Enjoy the song though! Haha.

Friday...Bum Bum Bummmm...the 13th

Hey! Happy Friday the 13th! It's super depressing and cold here in Nash. Right now I it's 40 (feels like 33) degrees out, and the sun hasn't gone down yet. So hopefully the venue we're going to tonight has an indoor stage.

I have been in a Jewel mode all day. I'm going with the whole depressing weather bit as my excuse. I used to be a big fan but I always thought she sold out a bit when she went mainstream, and I completely quit listening to her. Not because she went mainstream but the sound of her music changed a good bit as it normally does.

I loved her first cd though, and I think she really hit that one out of the park. I feel like her and Alanis both did that, and as a musician that is hard to live up to. In my opinion, neither of them either put out a better (or equal for that matter) cd to that first cd.

Anyways, here are a couple of the songs I've been listening to today. It makes me laugh to think about me listening to these 13 years ago. I mean I was 10 years old and sure as hell didn't know what half if any of the meanings to the songs were. Not that I ever dive too deep into songs but Jewel really doesn't give you a choice on her debut cd. So enjoy!

The other one...Adrian isn't even on YouTube. What in the helicopter? That phrase is from my dear friend Ruby from Style's Ruby. I think I laugh ridiculously loud everytime I hear her say it. Anyways. Happy weekend!

How I Waste Time

I have literally jumped out of my chair the past two days when visiting the Fox News website. Why? They've done an article on pythons and there is always a picture of a snake right there in front of me. I always have this weird fear that the snake is going to come alive and jump out at me...and then I almost have a heart attack. So I have officially diagnosed myself as a ophidiophobic (aka snakephobic). Really guys? How original.

I found some other fun phobias.
  • Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia- Fear of long words. This was one of if not the longest one I found. Ha!
  • Toxiphobia or Toxophobia or Toxicophobia- Fear of poison or of being accidently poisoned. Accidentally poisoned? Hmmm.
  • Phobophobia- Fear of phobias. No one is going to admit to this phobia if they are against the idea altogether.
Anyways, just wasted a good ten minutes on that. Go me!

Seinfeld Sunday

Seinfeld Sunday. Enjoy!

Seeing as how this is over an hour long segment on YouTube, and it has stayed up for about 7 months, I'm pretty impressed.

Davis Cup Fun

I'm sitting on the screen porch at my aunt's house in Birmingham right now. It is so freaking nice outside right now, and I love it. I came in to town this weekend for the Davis Cup. When I found out it was coming to Birmingham AND we were playing Switzerland (aka Roger Federer), I think I almost shat my pants. But turns out Roger backed out just a couple weeks ago which was a total bummer. I actually was thinking of this when I was asked to go work in Mexico because I knew both of these opportunities probably wouldn't come up again. I think you know which one I leaned towards now.

So I drove in Thursday. Took a day off of work Friday although I did respond to one email (whoops). Such a workaholic.

Thursday evening I had a mini Camp Mac reunion with some of the counselors I worked with a few summers back, and we had a blast. After driving aimlessly around Bham yesterday for a good 30 minutes, I met up with my parentals at my aunt's house. I haven' t seen my mom since Christmas which for a mom that will call you in two hour spans if you don't answer the phone to make sure you are not dead...that is a long time.

Yesterday I went with the mom to watch the first two singles matches. Lets just say that she was over it after the first set of the first match. It was pretty funny. She was trying to play solitaire and other games on my phone. They gave us noise makers and signs, and I'm pretty sure that everyone in our section hated us. We are basically two little kids when we get together.

So that's that. I'm off for day 2 of tennis. I'll let you know if a fight breaks out. Please.

Hey Girl, Heeey

Quick blog before the work day begins.

Last week when I was in Johnson City some super great things happened...
  1. I coughed so hard a threw up a little in my mouth and had to swallow it. G.r.o.s.s.ness
  2. "I wouldn't have taken you for a handcuffs kind of girl." Why do I always get the awkward moments? And yes. The guy that told me this did have a ring on it and was probably old enough to be my dad. Again, grossness.
  3. Hung out all day with two guys that spoke Spanish half of the time. One was from Mexico originally and one was half Italian, half Brazilian but could speak Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and English (durh). I confirmed later that he couldn't speak Southern since he couldn't understand some of the folks we came in contact with.
  4. While eating at a hole in the wall restaurant and by hole in the wall I mean biker joint in the middle of nowhere that carded us just to get through the doors (at 1 in the afternoon I should probably add), we were graced near the end of our meal with the presence of a lady that was drunk (and we think on something else as well). She walked up to our table, said I looked familiar, and introduced herself to me. Sat down with us. Asked one of the guys with us if he worked at El Chico's (which we passed when leaving...hilarious). Proceeded to tell us all of her troubles. Something about losing men, cars, and her job all in one day. Turning to church where she sings or takes rap/rock songs and turns them into church songs. One of the guys asked if she was a recovering alcoholic but she said she didn't drink really (umm...wasted with a drink in hand). Anyways, I would tell you more but I don't feel like I can do the story justice via typing.
So I just layed around all weekend. Played Susie Homemaker a little. I'm about to conquer this crud I've had, but it's kind of hard to do that when it's freezing cold outside.

I just got an email from Amazon about mp3 album downloads that are cheap. They even have some of Carole's so I love it. Check it out HERE. The albums get better after the first page unless you are a U2 fan...then you'll be in heaven. Enjoy and have a spectacular day.
