365 Days

Guess what? Today's my one year anniversary with Moto...at least since I started back full time. I think I might celebrate by buying a new cd. I hear Regina Spektor has a new one out. Hmmm.

I think I'll also celebrate by driving somewhere everyday so I can listen to my new cd. Great idea.

Monday: Roundtrip to McKenzie
Tuesday: Johnson City
Wednesday: Nashty
Thursday: Roundtrip to McKenzie
Friday: O-Town AlaBAM

Hooray for business roadtrips.

Regina. Regina.

Regina Spektor's new album Far is being released tomorrow. You can check it out ahead of time at NPR.org.

She's already released many a video for the new songs. I cannot quit listening to this album and can't wait to get it tomorrow.

Bonnaroo in Ten

The two reasons I wanted to go to Bonnaroo this year: Julia Nunes and Triumph (amongst the hippie nation). Unfortunately, I was in Chicago doing my grown up thing, BUT thanks to technology I can watch what happened from the comfort of my own home. Of course they both exceeded my extremely high expectations, but that comes as no shock to me.

Work Hard. Play Hard(er). And repeat.

Well this is definitely my first blog from a bathroom. That's right. I'm sitting in my bathroom right now because I'm under a tornado warning. No thank you. I'm barely awake right now due to the past couple of weeks of my life. Lets just put it this way...I took "you only live once" very seriously the past couple.

I've been up in Chicago for one of my projects, and this was basically my everyday schedule last week.
  • Work 8-7ish
  • Dinner Break
  • Work 9 to midnight
It all worked out though because Monday and Tuesday we had customers up, and everything went swimmingly.

So with all of that hard work I definitely spent my free time regrouping, right?...Wrong-0. Here's some fun I had in no particular order.
  • Jenga at the bar...I pretty much sucked
  • Athens Family Restaurant (a nice greek joint in Nash that is open 24/7 the latter half of the week and is byo)
  • Bday dinner at Boscos (went straight from the airport after my flight was delayed 1.5 hours)
  • Party bus to Cubs/Sox Game at Wrigley Field rooftops (game canceled but fun not)
  • Danced/sang at Cubby Bear with the Boss/Coworkers
  • Met a couple while late night dining that just got engaged and am now in the wedding
  • Made some Irish friends at Houndstooth Saloon (a UAT bar in Chicago. Interesting and gross at the same time.)
  • IKEA. IKEA. IKEA. There's an Ikea in Schaumburg. PS.
  • Pounded every single Cubs fan in all of Wrigleyville. No joke.
  • Tailgating in the hotel parking lot after dinner (I tried to catch a bunny)
I probably could have made this post a lot more interesting but I'm tired...so that's that. I'm gonna go watch for tornados now.

Airport Fun

I'm sitting in O'Hare waiting for my flight to board. I got here early to try and catch an earlier flight...denied. So what did I do with 3.5 hours to burn. Two words (or one?)...people watch/peoplewatch.

Lets be honest. How funny is that man that looks like he's talking to himself when on his headset (that's not even wireless...lame)?

I've also had the chance to catch up on my tunes. That's my favorite part of traveling. Right now I'm listening to...

Katie Herzig - Apple Tree
Delta Spirit - Ode to Sunshine
The Avett Brothers - Emotionalism
The Young Republic - 12 Tales from Winter City
The Weepies - all of 'em
Ingrid Michaelson - Be OK/Girls and Boys
Dr. Dog - Easy Beat
Ben Kweller - all of 'em

AND I'm listening to every song at once. Believe it.

A guy on the intercom just said we don't have a captain yet. Are these hard to come by in an airport? Burning question o' the day.

First post via mobile device? Check. 10-4. Over and out.

Where you been girl?

I think I forgot I had a blog over the past couple of weeks. Whoops. So what have been up to then?
  • Jamming out on my new uke. Feel free to reread if that last statement didn't process. I went with a Lanikai Soprano Uke, and it is wonderful and cute and everything in between. My mom laughed at first but with one strum of the beauty she was hooked.
  • Beaching it with the girls over a long weekend. I knew it was a much needed vacation when I kept looking at my desktop background all day everyday and pretending I was there.
  • Baseball, cold beer, and fireworks. That's what happens when you hit up a Nashville Sounds game on a Friday night.
  • Enjoying new music. I went to see Sam and Ruby (I really like Suitcase) and Jake Shimabukuro. Check them out. Jake was so sick it was ridiculous. The venue was the Belcourt Theatre which I instantly fell in love with. I've already moved in.

  • As of yesterday, I have constantly been anxious for Regina Spektor's new album although I have a couple of weeks (or more). I feel like the release date changes every hour.
  • Oh, I'm actually in Chi for the week for a project. I'll also be up here next week with the customer and party bus and Cubs/Sox game are both on the agenda. Excitement is for me.
So for lack of better phrase...Life is good.

Ciao.
